“Thinking” progress not shown on Windows

Thinking/progress UI regression
Previously, the extension showed some progress details while the model was “Thinking” (thinking/progress blocks). Now it only shows a static “Thinking” indicator with no additional progress text, which makes it feel stalled/opaque even when the agent is actively working

What steps can reproduce the bug?
Windows 11 (native, not WSL). Install openai.chatgpt 0.5.69 and open the Codex panel.
Run any task
What is the expected behavior?
While the model is working, show the same type of progress UI as before

Thanks for the bug report. This was an intentional change. We're working on an improvement to this experience. You'll see a newer and better experience show up in the near future. In the meantime, if you switch back to a stable release (the 0.4.x series), you should see the old behavior.
This is unacceptable. This is not the first time OpenAI has changed something surreptitiously without informing its users. The quality of the models has also degraded substantially with the new release of Codex-5.2. Not to mention OpenAI reneging on its word about supporting legacy models throughout 2026 and then planning to remove them just two weeks after the year started. This is the final straw. Constant gaslighting, poor service, and breaking changes. I’m switching to Gemini and Claude.
