What variant of Codex are you using?

App

What feature would you like to see?

Currently the terminal opens a non-login interactive shell. It should open a login shell (or there should at least be an option to do this)

Thanks for flagging this. To help us reproduce and prioritize:\n\n1. What environment are you using (OS, version, and install method)?\n2. What exact command or config triggers the issue?\n3. Can you share logs or error output if available?\n\nWe will update the proposal once we have the missing details.

I see a similar issue with Codex Desktop Remote SSH on Amazon Linux 2023 (codex-cli 0.147.0).

My configured login shell is /usr/bin/zsh, and normal SSH opens Zsh. However, the Codex integrated terminal starts /bin/bash -il with SHELL=/bin/bash.

My current workaround in ~/.bash_profile is:

if [[ $- == *i* && -n ${CODEX_REMOTE_PAYLOAD:-} ]]; then
    export SHELL=/usr/bin/zsh
    exec /usr/bin/zsh -l
fi

Codex should open the user's configured login shell directly. Are there plans to continue work on this behavior, or could this issue be reopened?
