Codex App just spinning and not doing anything for any thread, not when even just saying "Hello"

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

260205.0946 (552)

What subscription do you have?

Pro

What issue are you seeing?

I have seen this happen regularly now with the Codex App, not just this version, where when I enter a prompt and hit enter it just shows the "spinning" on the right-side of the prompt but nothing happens. No "thinking" or anything.
Even just entering a simple "Hello" as a prompt works.

When this is happening, if I open the Codex CLI and say "Hello" it comes back asking what we would like to work on (Yeah).

Quiting the app and re-opening allows it to work again for a while.

I created a feedback thread for one of them:

But not sure

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Unable to determine steps. It works for a bit and then stops working.

What is the expected behavior?

Thanks for flagging this. To help us reproduce and prioritize:

  1. What environment are you using (OS, version, and install method)?
  2. What exact command or config triggers the issue?
  3. Can you share logs or error output if available?

We will update the proposal once we have the missing details.

I might have just determined a potential way to reproduce.:
Enter a prompt and click to send the prompt. Then immediately stop it.
I just updated to 260205 and opened it. I then entered a prompt hit enter instead of SHIFT+ENTER hence not everything was there. So I stopped it by clicking the stop button. When I then added and resend it I got this issue.
Went to another prompt and entered stuff, sent it and it hung as well.

When I quit, I see the following notification from codex (I've enabled notifications):
{"id": "<id number>","method":"mcpServerStatus/list","params":{"cursor":null,"limit":100}}}

I re-opened it again and just to see did the exact same thing. I entered a prompt, hit <ENTER>, immediately stopped it, added some more stuff, send it and it hangs like that.
Went for another thread, entered stuff, hit send and it is hanging as well. Notification I then received had same thing.

This is on MacOs (only OS Codex App is available) version 26.2 (25C56). Installed it from downloading the App from website.

2. What exact command or config triggers the issue?

See what I just posted, apologies I thought I had already provided that but forgot to click "Comment". :-)

4. Can you share logs or error output if available?>

Also see previous post I just did. Might be something with it hanging on getting mcpServerStatus then where something then "hangs" or so if one happens to stop it while it is doing that.

Just want to say: this is a frequent issue for me too and makes the application unusable.

Same. Can't figure out why. Reopen it might work though
