Unsupported HEIC upload causes persistent “Invalid image in your last message” loop in affected thread

What issue are you seeing?
When I upload an unsupported image format (.heic), Codex returns:
“Invalid image in your last message. Please remove it and try again.”
After that, all subsequent messages in that thread, including plain text and valid .png uploads, return the same error. The thread appears to remain in a persistent invalid-image state, with no visible UI option to remove the attachment and continue. A red error indicator remains next to the thread title, and the only workaround I found was starting a new thread.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open a thread in Codex app.
- Upload/send a
.heicimage. - Receive invalid image error.
- Send plain text or upload
.png. - Invalid image error persists and thread remains unusable.
What is the expected behavior?
Unsupported image uploads should not leave the thread in a persistent error state.
At minimum, one of these should happen:
- The app allows subsequent text/valid-image messages to proceed (invalid attachment is isolated to that message), or
- The UI provides a clear, actionable way to remove/clear the invalid attachment from the affected message/thread.
Current behavior is inconsistent because the error instructs “remove the image,” but no visible control is provided to do so.
