Hello. I was instructed to create a ticket here by Codex after submitting /feedback. Unclear from the response whether this is a required step to complete sending feedback ("Feedback uploaded. Please open an issue using the following URL:" ). I'm assuming this is just an optional next step... but regardless:

I feel this particular feedback is important enough that I'd like to ensure it's at least received, as it could be a potential security issue for some users.

From uploaded log:

UX conflict that results in undesired behavior: Occurs simply as result of user (me) typing next/intermediate prompt while Codex is still processing previous one, but then (while I'm typing) presents an approval (e.g., "Do you want to execute the following command). If user is typing, this easily leads to accidentally providing undesired response to such a counter prompt/approval request without even having a chance to read it (could happen so fast user might not know it happened). I think fix should at least involve: if prompt has been started (if user has started typing next prompt), trigger new state to identify as much: from there, frankly I don't know what makes sense. Maybe insert a line that "sticks" above input area (using POSIX/ANSI ctrls) along lines of "Current processing awaiting user approval, use CTL-SHIFT-T to switch to it" then resstore existing prompt, or something like that. Cheers. Appreciate y'alls' work -- this is some amazing stuff especially in recent months :)

@malcolmmurphy, can you clarify whether you were using the Codex CLI or the Codex app? I thought you were reporting this issue against the Codex CLI, but I see that you also posted in #11490, which is about the terminal pane in the Codex app. Just trying to determine if these are distinct issues.

@etraut-openai thank you for your prompt responses to this issue. I was using CLI, and didn't even realize the other post wasn't -- perhaps related (or maybe not at all). Sorry if that only confused things. I'm more than happy to provide any addt'l info as requested.

Edit, fyi:
running codex-cli 0.98.0 on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, model was gpt-5.3-codex high

I too run into this. After completion of any task, Codex CLI forcibly takes focus back. I'm not clear if this is an OS issue or an application issue, and I haven't found any settings to prevent this from happening. I'm on codex-cli 0.99.0 on Omarchy/Arch 3.3.3 Hyprland 0.53.1
