Have @codex engage in all GitHub issue threads

What variant of Codex are you using?

CLI

What feature would you like to see?

It would be super helpful if all gh issues threads triggered a @codex style gh bot action where codex itself was a chat participant and triage assistant. That would make all issues rich in detail and conversation, and potential generative of actionable insights or triage actions themselves. The volume of issues and the build velocity of codex development means a large amount of issues and a small amount of interaction from OAI staff, which is understandable, but undesirable. Codex itself, is essentially purpose built to manage tasks like this.

Also, seeing that the codex project no longer allows outside contributions, this would allow for a rich feature suggestions interface (like this suggestion itself), where a visible design thread could be exposed, and codex could then vet submissions that ultimately turn into PR's, while being designed (or prompted for design) using OAI's own strict internal design criteria and harnesses.

All in all, the LACK of this type of model interaction in issues threads doesn't make sense, given the extreme value of @codex style review functions. Simply extend that to general chat, and trigger on all new issue threads, and smart trigger on all replies. The implementation is relatively straightforward, and the value add is immense. And at the end of the day, we're talking about a frontier AI tool, and it's 2026. The absence of this feature feels somewhat strange, given the context.
