This is an OpenAI server-side issue — the 503 with upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers means the backend handling /codex/responses/compact was temporarily unavailable (common causes: pod restart, deployment rollout, or momentary overload). I got a 403 on this URL today. In #13784 there's mention of VPNs, but I'm not using a VPN. Is the 403 issue really a duplicate of this, since this is 503? One sounds like a transient error at the backend. The other sounds like an auth issue. And could the auth issue be related to changing IP addresses? I don't have control over what my ISP does with its public addresses, so what's the short-term fix? Do I just wait and try again?
