What issue are you seeing?

I'm not sure this is a bug or expected feature:
Add new skill files in the repo, and then click start new session, type '$' in the app, the new skills won't show in the suggest list.
In my view, since a new session corresponds to a fresh Codex process, it should be able to pick up the newly added skills automatically.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Add new skill files in the repo
  2. Click start new session
  3. Type '$' in the app
  4. The new skills won't show in the suggest list.

What is the expected behavior?

The new skills show in the suggest list.

I'm not able to repro the problem. When you say "add new skill files in the repo", can you provide more details about how you do this? I tried adding a .codex/skills/test-skill/SKILL.md file and added the required frontmatter and body to the file. I then confirmed that $test-skill showed up when I typed $. Likewise, when I deleted the skill directory, it no longer showed up in when I typed $.

If you're able to repro this, does the skill show up if you quit and restart the app?

can you provide more details about how you do this?

I had some commands in .claude dir, and I told the agent to migrate them into .agents skills, it finishes easily but the skills didn't show in new session. They showed up after I restart the app, I didn't modify any content before I restart.

If you're able to repro this, does the skill show up if you quit and restart the app?

I tried again and this time they all showed up immediately, I’m not sure what I did differently compared to when it was glitching.
