File search does not work

Codex @ symbol file search straight up does not work. It fails to find majority of the files in the project.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open a VSCode workspace that contains substantial amount of files
- Attempt to give codex references to a few random files using the @ symbol
What is the expected behavior?
The search works and the searched file is found

Are the files you're trying to add covered by your
.gitignore? If so, this is a known issue. See #2952.Nope, not at all.
I have the same issue for codex-cli. When I run

I have Codex (v0.106.0) on macOS 26.3 running on Ghostty 26.3.
For me, this issue only happens with newly added files.
