Please make Codex ask fewer questions
Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Mar 1, 2026 by youtubetomp3converterapi Closed May 10, 2026
Codex asks too many follow-up questions, and it becomes exhausting to use.
In many cases, the request is already clear enough, but the system still pauses to ask for confirmation or extra details that could reasonably be inferred.
Requested improvement:
- Reduce unnecessary clarification questions
- Use sensible defaults more often
- Only ask when the missing detail is essential
- Let the model continue with the most likely interpretation instead of stopping too early
Impact:
This slows down the workflow and makes the product feel less helpful for practical use.
A “low-clarification” mode or stronger default assumption behavior would be very useful.
Thank you.
