What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.304.38.0

What subscription do you have?

Business Plan

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

Codex crashed with the following error:

Codex app-server exited unexpectedly (code=126, signal=null).
Most recent error: /usr/bin/bash: line 1: exec: /mnt/c/Program Files/WindowsApps/OpenAI.Codex_26.304.38.0_x64__2p2nqsd0c76g0/app/resources/codex: cannot execute: Permission denied

The application was installed a day ago, downloaded from the Microsoft Store (redirected from the official OpenAI website), worked fine for about 4 hours. Next day it just opened like this.

Clicking Open Config.toml doesn't do anything and clicking Reload does restart the window but with same error.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open Windows start menu.
  2. Open the Codex app.

What is the expected behavior?

Application should boot and provide the usual UI.
