Codex Desktop App hangs on every new thread on macOS, while CLI works normally

What issue are you seeing?

Codex CLI works normally on my Mac, but Codex Desktop App hangs on every new thread.

What I already verified:

• Successful CLI login and normal CLI usage
• Opened the app from a clean folder: /Users/feiwang/codex-test
• Removed an accidentally initialized Git repo at my home directory (~/.git moved away)
• The home directory is no longer a Git repo
• App still hangs after opening from a clean workspace
• .codex cache size is moderate (~220 MB total; sessions ~58 MB; archived_sessions ~51 MB)

Observed earlier:

• repeated ab.chatgpt.com fetch failures
• UI timeout / worker exited symptoms
• skills / recommended-skills conflicts in logs

Device:

• macOS Apple Silicon
• Codex CLI version: 0.111.0

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Codex Desktop App from /Users/feiwang/codex-test
2. Start a new thread
3. Send a simple prompt like "hello"
4. The app hangs and does not respond
5. Codex CLI in the same environment works normally
