Include Codex CLI usage in ChatGPT subscription

While I understand that the decision to include Codex CLI usage in ChatGPT subscription will probably require a lot of internal discussions and politics, my opinion is that you don't have any other alternatives:
Both of your primary competitors have now good CLI products with subscription pricing. In addition, the usage of your own "sister" product, the web/async Codex, is included in flat-price ChatGPT subscription.
Considering the above, I don't think that requiring users to pay full API prices is a realistic path forward.

come on openai, we all want this
There is #35 still open from a while ago.
For now, you can apply for complimentary daily tokens at https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/data-controls/sharing but it seems that Codex CLI doesn’t have any other “free tokens” scheme.
Those are not complimentary tokens. They are given if you allow your inputs (prompt and context) to be used for training. And the amounts are anyway useless, the 250k tokens get you about nowhere in agentic work; typical burn is around 100 million tokens per day per concurrent agent.
I agree with this request — I also vote for including access to Codex CLI as part of the ChatGPT Plus subscription, without requiring separate API usage or additional costs. It would be great to use these tools more seamlessly as part of the existing subscription.
This part alone makes me want to cancel my Pro subscription -- it feels like we're actively being punished for trying to use the terminal CLI Codex as opposed to the web Codex.
If this isn't addressed relatively soon, I'll be switching to a competitor who allows CLI use as part of their subscription.
second @rohvani, why is web codex included but terminal codex not?
it looks like we can use it with a subscription now: https://x.com/embirico/status/1953522026477679066
thats for the heads up @dirceu !
This commit message confirms it here, it was added today:

At least team plan doesn't work.
Please vote and comment: https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/1984
From what i can see, you can Login with your Account, but it just auto creates an API-Token which you have to pay for like before.
@Elandrya2711 No, OpenAI implemented this feature request yesterday and you can now use Codex CLI using ChatGPT quota.
Closing as this feature request was implemented yesterday, and the Team plan bug fixed couple of hours ago. Thanks OpenAI for doing this & thanks everybody for voting and making it happen.
