What version of the IDE extension are you using?
26.311.21342
What subscription do you have?
Plus
Which IDE are you using?
VS code
What platform is your computer?
Windows 11
What issue are you seeing?
Codex Extension does not appear anymore.
I have disabled / enabled it, and restarted VScode, still no Codex Extension visible.
I am SSH remote connected to my server, all this time.
VS code just had an update, and maybe this is the reason for it.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Actually nothing.
Besides maybe: SSH connect to your Server with VScode.
What is the expected behavior?

Edit: Later, i found it was in the upper right corner of VSCode.
same issue
I have the same problem starting on 03/13/2026 around 9:15 AM EST.
I first noticed that opening a new project made the extension icon disappear.
Currently open VSCode windows were fine until reopened.
I tried reinstalling the extension, I checked that the extension is not "checked off", I restarted VSCode, etc
No luck.
##################### EDIT
I just noticed that while the extension no longer shows on the left side extension sidebar, The icon shows, and Codex can be acccessed from an icon showing on top right (Open Codex Sidebar)
Same here.
yep, in the upper right corner there is that codex icon again.
supposedly moved there since codex update...
I will close the issue now. however, I liked it more in the primary sidebar :)
You can drag it back to the primary sidebar if you'd like
Same here, I tried to drag back but did not work.
Just worked :)
