What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Newest

What subscription do you have?

Pro

What platform is your computer?

Windows 11

What issue are you seeing?

Codex crashed with the following error:

(code=126, signal=null).
Most recent error: /usr/bin/bash: line 1: exec: /mnt/c/Program Files/WindowsApps/OpenAI.Codex_26.311.2262.0_x64__2p2nqsd0c76g0/app/resources/codex: cannot execute: Permission denied
Some things to try:

Check your config.toml for invalid settings
Check your settings to disable running in WSL if you are seeing compatibility issues
Try downloading a different version of the extension
Click reload to restart the Codex extension, or visit our documentation for additional help.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Try to start the app. This happened because Codex tried to restart itself or run a new instance of the app, I believe. Nothing fixes the issue. Reinstall, complete wipe of data. New install sees the same issue.

What is the expected behavior?

Application starts

Additional information

I tried taking ownership of the executable and adding +x in WSL terminal, Nothing. no resolution path including complete reinstall. very frustrating.
