Codex's in-progress status is expanding the transcript and creating excessive scrolling

What variant of Codex are you using?

CLI

What feature would you like to see?

Codex’s in-progress status updates are useful, but they permanently expand the transcript and create
excessive scrolling. This makes it harder to refer back to the original user prompt and compare it with the
final answer.

So the recipe is:

  • describe the current friction
  • make clear you want to keep progress updates
  • propose one or two specific UI behaviors
  • explain the productivity impact
