What variant of Codex are you using?

IDE Extension and CLI

What feature would you like to see?

It would be great if, instead of Codex CLI and IDE reading AGENTS.md or AGENTS.override.md by default, they read CODEX.md or CODEX.override.md instead.

This could strengthen Codex’s identity and visibility, making it easier to recognize—across well-known repositories—whether Codex was used during development.

CODEX.md makes more sense than AGENTS.md

AGENTS.md would look better inside subagents if it ever will be implemented

The industry has standardized on AGENTS.md, and we have committed to maintaining compatibility with this. It's unlikely that we'd deviate from the standard here.
