What version of the IDE extension are you using?

26.325.31654

What subscription do you have?

ChatGPT Business

Which IDE are you using?

VS Code

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.4.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

When I open the Codex plugin from the sidebar in VS Code and enter the chat page, even if I do nothing and stay completely idle, I see CPU usage instantly spike above 200%, and my power draw stays above 25W. As soon as I exit the chat screen and return to the chat list, CPU usage immediately returns to normal, and power consumption drops to around 5W (the normal idle power for a Mac).

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Open VSCode, open the codex in the chat sidebar, select a conversation (some specific conversations will trigger this phenomenon, but as long as I completely exit the vs code, they are likely to solve it, and they will appear again after a period of time), observe the activity monitor and my wall plug with a display.

What is the expected behavior?

_No response_
