Ubuntu 25.10: command failed; retry without sandbox?

The cli constantly says "command failed; retry without sandbox?" when trying to edit files.

This is the first time I've used codex as I've been using Claude Code.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Nothing special running here, just trying to get the agent to make some changes. I can see some previously closed Issues with he same issue, but they haven't been closed as "Fixed"?

What is the expected behavior?

It should be able to make edits without failing, or at least have a fallback. The agent itself couldn't see any of these errors or issues. It had no idea I was being prompted and couldn't suggest a fix which also seems strange
