This is such a huge regression, the diff is very hard to read now.

They just don't care about the extension. Each new version breaks something important, and nobody gives a damn:

  • #17649
  • #17334
  • #16117
  • and also this diff problem.

They don't have time for QA as it would slow them down in rolling out new products; they are trying to catch up with rivals and are afraid of losing market share.

Sad reality.

Only a severe outflow of customers will make them reconsider their approach and make them respect their products' users.

I think it's a good time to switch to Claude Code.

Yeah, my colleague just tried Codex and noped out immediately after seeing this unreadable diff issue, and a number of other glitches.

Codex devs may be unaware, but not all developers use Git (in game dev we use Plastic / Perforce!).
I rely heavily on this diff view and it's:

  • Not color-coded properly (as per this topic, dramatically slows down reading the diff!)
  • Not accurate at all (tons of additional unaffected lines are marked as changed in the diffs, which is incredibly confusing)
  • Missing context ( x lines hidden, so you can't tell what's near it inside the diff view)

You guys have a great harness in Codex, but these issues make it extremely hard to use in actual production code where I need to be checking and vetting changes as I go.

The color-coding is FIXED as of '26.422.20832'!
