What issue are you seeing?
When I am actively using the Codex app and switch focus to another application or window on macOS (using Command+Tab, clicking on another app in the Dock, or any other window-switching method), the Codex app becomes completely unresponsive upon returning to it.
The UI stops accepting any input. Clicking, typing, and scrolling all have no effect. The app does not crash or show any error dialog. It simply freezes in whatever state it was in before I switched away. The only way to recover is to force quit the app and reopen it, which is disruptive, especially mid-session.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open the Codex app and start an active session (e.g., run or interact with a task).
- Switch focus to another application using Command+Tab or by clicking elsewhere on the screen.
- Switch back to the Codex app.
- Observe that the app is completely unresponsive to any input.
What is the expected behavior?
After switching back to the Codex app, the app should resume normally and continue accepting user input without any disruption.
Additional information
- This is a consistent, reproducible issue. It happens every time or nearly every time I switch away from the app.
- No specific action within the app seems to trigger or prevent this. It appears to be purely tied to window focus loss.
- This significantly impacts usability, as any context or unsaved state is potentially lost on every restart.
