i use the codex app running on wsl. i use codex cli on windows and codex cli on wsl. the clis are 100% up to date. the codex app keeps saying it’s on version current versi

What steps can reproduce the bug?
Just trying to open the app
What is the expected behavior?
To open propperly

I have no idea what i have to update. App is updated. Codex cli on windows is updatex. Codex cli on wsl is updated.

The potential duplicate had been closed. The problem is the same: You can update in codex, but only on MacOS, I find that I can check for updates. I think closing https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/17284 before to be a grave mistake as this only results in opening more issues and more confusion. I found both issues using AI. Instead of closing, since this bot found the other issues, the original should probably not be closed solely based on upvotes, because people may not be able to find the issue to upvote if they just use the normal github issue search. Instead a review about the issue and aim should instead be added by and LLM before considering that the number of upvotes has not been sufficient upon human review. Otherwise, humans drown themselves in more issues.
I was/am considering an issue about "how do I check for updates on Windows" - maybe there is an answer, but I do now know - I can't find it in the menus, settings or a command palette.
@etraut-openai You were mentioned on #17284 - consider if upvotes alone are a sensible metric. Sooner or later, this may come back as a problem.
