What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.415.40636 (1799)

What subscription do you have?

Pro

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 24.6.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

so this is something that i considered either adding as a bug or feature, but think it is more of a bug than a feature. The bug is that if I use the codex transcription mode, and talk to a specific chat for some time and then click the transcribe and send button in codex, and then switch to another chat before the transcription and sent actually finished, it will actually cancel my request. I find that very annoying because there is a lag between transcribing and sending, and when I am in the flow I like to kick off agent tasks and move between them quickly.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

click the dictate button. talk for a bit. then click either transcribe or transcribe and send button. while it loads switch to another chat in codex. The transcription will be cancelled for both.

What is the expected behavior?

Ideally when I click the transcribe and send button. the chat should perform this in the background and consider it a task being sent, so that I can focus on other tasks while this task is kicking off. Something similar should happen with the transcribe button, it should transcribe for that chat and not be cancelled if we move to another chat window so that a user can go back and inspect the transcript.
