What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.406.31014

What subscription do you have?

ChatGPT Plus

What platform is your computer?

Windows 11

What issue are you seeing?

Opening the Codex VS Code extension panel causes one logical CPU to stay
60% - 80% (even though no session has been started). Closing the Codex panel immediately drops CPU usage.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start VS Code with code --profile CodexTest
  2. Install only the Codex extension
  3. Open VS Code with no folder, only Untitled-1
  4. Open the Codex extension panel
  5. CPU usage rises and one logical CPU stays 60% - 80%.
  6. Close the Codex panel
  7. CPU usage immediately drops

What is the expected behavior?

Opening the Codex panel while idle should not continuously pin one logical CPU.
