What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
Version 26.422.30944 (2080)
What subscription do you have?
PRO
What platform is your computer?
Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm
What issue are you seeing?
Codex App consumes extremely high CPU while idle.
Two Codex Helper (Renderer) processes constantly use around 125% CPU each (~250% total) even when there is no active interaction.
This happens right after launching the app and persists indefinitely.
CPU usage spikes immediately after opening Codex
No prompts are running
No MCP servers or extensions actively used
Fan noise and system load increase significantly
Issue persists across sessions

I want to upvote this issue. Codex is using pretty crazy amount of CPU even when it's idle
Honestly, Codex sudden CPU spikes caused other apps on my Macbook to crash frequently, or Codex itself to crash repeatedly....... the codex desktop really suck.....
fixed for me in newer version. If someone still has the problem try turning off popout window hotkey
