Following a message in the past 24 hours to update via 'npm -g install', ALT+ENTER no longer allows me to insert newlines.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

1. Use gnome-terminal
2. Start codex
3. Type "Hello". Press ALT+ENTER. Note no newline inserted any more

What is the expected behavior?

A newline should be inserted as before
