I maintain WinBridge Recovery, a Windows-focused Codex Desktop diagnostic/recovery utility: https://github.com/zemeng5208/winbridge-recovery

For the “Chrome plugin is missing from Plugins” symptom, WinBridge checks a failure mode that became common across later Windows reports: the official AppX package can contain Chrome/Browser/Computer Use while the active generated openai-bundled marketplace or user plugin cache is stale/incomplete, so the UI behaves as if the plugin does not exist.

The tool compares the installed official source, active bundled marketplace, versioned cache/latest, active CODEX_HOME, and native-host/runtime references before making changes. Repairs are backed up and use the installed package as the source rather than modifying WindowsApps itself.

This will not help if Chrome is intentionally gated for an account/region or if Desktop deliberately filters it after all local state is consistent. If anyone still reproduces the missing-plugin state and tries WinBridge, please report ✅ / 🟡 / ❌ at https://github.com/zemeng5208/winbridge-recovery/issues/4 — I am specifically trying to collect real success and failure cases.
