Allow Appearance theme colors to apply to the left sidebar background

What variant of Codex are you using?

App (macOS)

What feature would you like to see?

Codex and ChatGPT Desktop are easy to distinguish in the Dock because their icons are visually different: ChatGPT is white/black, Codex is blue/purple.

However, once both apps are open, their dark left sidebars look almost identical. The current Appearance settings allow changing accent/background/foreground colors, but they do not meaningfully change the left sidebar color.

Please add a separate theme option for the left sidebar, e.g.:

  • sidebarBackground
  • sidebarAccent
  • navigationBackground

Use case:
When ChatGPT Desktop and Codex Desktop are open side by side, I often paste content into the wrong app because both windows look nearly the same in dark mode. A distinct sidebar color would make the current app immediately recognizable, just like the Dock icons already are.

Example:

  • ChatGPT sidebar: dark/neutral
  • Codex sidebar: blue/purple tinted

This would be a small UI customization, but a big usability and safety improvement.
