Codex Desktop: Plugins tab search overlay opens blank and covers plugin list
What version of the Codex App are you using?
26.506.31421 (2620)
What subscription do you have?
Not specified.
What platform is your computer?
macOS 26.3.1 (a), Darwin 25.3.0, x86_64
What issue are you seeing?
When opening the Plugins tab, the plugin list is covered by a large blank overlay starting under the "Search plugins" field. The overlay appears like an empty search/popover panel and blocks most of the plugin list, making the Plugins page difficult or impossible to use.
The problem persists even after restarting the app and clearing local WebView/cache state.
Steps to reproduce
- Open Codex Desktop.
- Open the Plugins / Skills surface.
- Click or switch to the Plugins tab.
- The Plugins page shows a large blank overlay covering the list.
Expected behavior
The Plugins tab should show the plugin list normally. The search popover should not open blank or cover the page unless the user is actively searching.
Troubleshooting attempted
- Pressed Esc.
- Clicked outside the search field.
- Switched between Skills and Plugins.
- Resized the window.
- Restarted Codex.
- Cleared:
~/Library/Application Support/Codex/Cache~/Library/Application Support/Codex/Code Cache~/Library/Application Support/Codex/GPUCache~/Library/Application Support/Codex/Session Storage~/Library/Application Support/Codex/Local Storage- Removed suspicious preference key:
AppleTextDirectionfrom~/Library/Preferences/com.openai.codex.plist
None of these fixed the issue.
Additional information
The user-provided screenshot shows the blank overlay covering the plugin list immediately below the search input. Plugin entries are visible behind the overlay on the right side, confirming the list itself is present but covered by the blank overlay.
