Codex does not open in the Cursor's secondary side bar

What version of the IDE extension are you using?

Version 26.506.31421; Cursor: Version: 3.3.30 VSCode Version: 1.105.1

What subscription do you have?

Which IDE are you using?

Cursor

What platform is your computer?

Linux 6.17.0-23-generic x86_64 x86_64 (Kubuntu 24.04)

What issue are you seeing?

If you open Codex, it only opens in the left (primary) side bar. If you try to drag and drop it into the secondary side bar (where the regular Cursor's agents are all placed) - nothing happens.

This is a major inconvenience, as having codex in the left side bar hides the Explorer panel

Codex agent can be opened as an editor, which is not convenient either - sometimes files are opened in the same editor group, you can't drag and drop into such editor, etc.

Please fix it, its affects usability badly.

same question...
maybe you can try like this:
View: Move view → New Secondary entry sidebar
then it will appear.

Happened to me in version 3.15.6, too. It shouldn't be this complicated, but the workaround helped

@Stefanlov1ez's comment gave me the hint I needed to find this workaround. Thanks!

In my case, though, Codex initially appears Primary Side Bar in Tab layout, so I'm leaving this comment in case anyone else runs into the same layout.

  1. Drag the Codex tab from the Primary Side Bar down to the bottom Panel, where the Terminal is located.
  2. Once Codex is docked in the bottom Panel, right click the Codex tab and move to > **Secondary Side Bar**.
  3. It should now stay in the Secondary Side Bar normally.

So the working path is:

Primary Side Bar → Bottom Panel / Terminal area → Secondary Side Bar
