What issue are you seeing?

chatgpt for ios 1.2026.125 tried to connect to the codeX client via ChatGPT, but it kept getting stuck at "waiting for desktop"

What steps can reproduce the bug?

I suspect the issue is caused by having two Codex clients, one for Windows and one for macOS, so I tried to close the Windows Codex and terminate the processes, leaving only the macOS Codex online, but I still couldn't connect.

What is the expected behavior?

I am seeing the same issue on macOS + iPhone.

Environment

  • Codex Desktop: 26.513.20950 (2816)
  • macOS: Apple Silicon Mac M5
  • ChatGPT iOS app: 1.2026.125
  • Plan: personal plus
  • Same OpenAI account used on both Mac Codex and iPhone ChatGPT app

Symptom

  1. Open Codex Desktop on macOS
  2. Open the mobile pairing QR code screen
  3. Scan the QR code from the iPhone
  4. ChatGPT app opens Codex Mobile and I tap the connect button
  5. iPhone then shows Waiting for desktop...
  6. Codex Desktop remains stuck on the QR code screen and never reacts

Things I already tested

  • Signed out and signed back in on both Codex Desktop and the ChatGPT iOS app with the same account
  • Restarted Codex Desktop
  • Confirmed normal access to:
  • www.chatgpt.com
  • www.openai.com
  • api.openai.com
  • auth.openai.com
  • chat.openai.com
  • Tested with my proxy in both rule mode and full/global mode
  • Confirmed the behavior is unchanged even after manually starting:
  • codex remote-control

Result

The behavior remains unchanged:

  • iPhone stays on Waiting for desktop...
  • macOS Codex stays on the QR code page
  • no visible error is shown on either side

This looks very similar to this issue and does not appear to be caused by a simple network reachability problem or using different accounts on the two devices.

I have android 16 + windows 11, same issue

Same issue, Pixel A9 (Android 16) and Windows 10; It says waiting for desktop on the app, but pulls nothing up in the desktop app
