Codex macOS app appears to re-enable Full Access permissions without user interaction
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
Version 26.513.20950 (2816)
What subscription do you have?
Go
What platform is your computer?
Mac M1 Pro Apple Silicon
What issue are you seeing?
I’ve observed the Codex macOS app appearing to automatically re-enable elevated permissions (specifically Full Access related permissions) on my device without direct user action occasionally when using the application or opening the application.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Step 1: Open the Codex app
Step 2: Click Settings
Step 3: Go to General
Step 4: Full access toggled off by default.
What is the expected behavior?
In permissions settings in General Full access should automatically be toggled off unless enabled by the user.
Actual behavior?
The full access toggle in permissions at times re-enables itself without direct user action.
Additional information
This can be concerning to users using this application as this can present a security flaw. This should not be automatically toggling on its own. By Default this should be toggled off so a user can decide themselves if they would like codex to run Full access. Also when toggling on there should be a pop up to confirm the user would like to proceed with this action as there are risks in doing so. If a user wants to disable a permission in the codex settings it should remain disabled until the user explicitly re-enables it.
I have manually toggled it back off as shown in the screenshot for safety.
