Windows app freezes around message send and run completion, possibly worse after heavy image generation
Summary
Codex on Windows becomes very slow and frequently freezes during normal use. The freezes are most noticeable when I send a message and when a run stops/completes.
Environment
- Platform: Windows desktop app
- Machine health: my PC is otherwise fine/responsive
- Usage pattern: long Codex sessions, sometimes with a lot of image generation in the same session
What happens
- The app often freezes right after I send a message.
- The app often freezes again when the run stops/completes.
- It feels like the app UI itself is the bottleneck, not the computer generally.
Possible clue, not proven
I do not have profiling data or a reliable repro yet, but I suspect the slowdown may be worse in sessions where I use image generation a lot. This is only a hypothesis from repeated use, not confirmed evidence.
Expected behavior
The Windows app should stay responsive while sending a message and when a run finishes, even in long sessions or sessions with many generated images.
Notes
I do not currently have a clean reproduction case, logs, or measurements. Filing this because the freezes are consistent enough to make the Windows app feel very slow during normal work.
