What issue are you seeing?
After removing the Codex mobile/remote connection, the old Codex host still appears in the ChatGPT mobile app's Codex area as offline, with a last seen timestamp from several days ago. Tapping reconnect does not restore the connection, and there does not appear to be a way to remove the stale offline host/device entry from either the mobile app or Codex Desktop.
This leaves the mobile connection in a stuck state: the previous host remains account-side, but the user cannot reconnect it or remove it cleanly to pair again.
Steps to reproduce
- Pair Codex Desktop with ChatGPT mobile using the Codex mobile setup flow.
- Remove or disconnect the Codex mobile connection.
- Open ChatGPT mobile and go to Codex.
- Observe that the host/device still appears as offline with an old
last seentimestamp. - Try to reconnect or remove the stale entry.
Actual behavior
- The host remains visible as offline in ChatGPT mobile Codex.
- The stale entry shows an old
last seentimestamp. - Reconnect does not work.
- No clear UI exists to remove the stale offline host/device.
- Restarting Codex Desktop and attempting a fresh mobile setup does not clear the stale entry.
Expected behavior
One of the following should be possible:
- The stale offline host can be removed from ChatGPT mobile Codex.
- The host can be re-paired cleanly from Codex Desktop.
- Codex Desktop Settings > Connections can revoke/clear the account-side stale mobile/host registration.
- The product provides a documented reset flow for stale Codex mobile remote hosts.
Troubleshooting already tried
- Confirmed Codex Desktop and ChatGPT mobile are on the same account/workspace.
- Restarted Codex Desktop and ChatGPT mobile.
- Tried starting a fresh
Set up Codex mobileflow from the Desktop app. - Checked Codex Desktop
Settings > Connectionsfor a removable stale device entry. - Looked for an obvious local removable Codex Desktop registry/state entry, but the stale offline host appears to be account-side rather than a simple local cache entry.
Notes
There are community reports of similar behavior where a host remains linked to the account, appears offline in mobile, and Reconnect does nothing, with no visible way to fully remove/reset it. It would be helpful to have either a product fix or a documented support-side cleanup path for stale Codex mobile remote host registrations.
