I find the autoscroll during the Codex response to be visually uncomfortable - especially for longer messages.
This is, I think, my preferred behavior:
- a space is afforded for a short response that requires no scrolling (~10 lines)
- if the output goes beyond that space, there is a small visual cue (arrow) but no autoscroll
- user can scroll to see the rest of the message
Please make this a setting - or even the default
Stretch:
- afforded space is also controllable (10 lines? 20 lines?)
- afforded space (controlled by user) is interpreted by Codex as the desired length for "typical conversational exchange" -- longer responses are tied to specific requests by the user or are determined through context

Friends, this would be a genuinely important and useful improvement.
Automatic scrolling is not always comfortable, especially for people with vestibular sensitivity. When the scrolling speed is high, it becomes difficult to read the response at a comfortable pace: the content keeps moving down, and you have to manually scroll back up.
A similar feature already exists in the web version, so it would be great to bring the same behavior to Codex as well: the response should continue generating, but the page should not be forced to scroll down unless the user chooses to do so.
For me, this is one of the key reasons why I currently use Claude Code more often than Codex. I would really appreciate it if you could consider adding this setting.
This would be a really nice enhancement as I find myself always scrolling back up to the top anyway after a response.
I have headache because of this auto scrolling, use chat gpt behaviour, which is really nice, even the speed of the writing answer is nice in chat gpt app , rather that the speed and behaviour of answers in codex app on desktop.
As a workaround I usually scroll up a bit after I sent my prompt or when the answer is showing up in the chat then it interrupts the autoscroll.
It is interesting that if you search for 'Scroll to bottom' in the Codex app settings, you will see it in the search results but not the actual setting. Version 26.623.141536
The autoscroll in the Codex app is dogshit, please turn it off if a toggle can't be provided.
