What issue are you seeing?
I’d like to suggest adding interactive confirmation prompts to the Codex CLI or client, similar to the experience in Claude Code.
When Codex needs to ask the user for clarification or confirmation in the middle of a task, it would be helpful if it could present several selectable options in an interactive popup or prompt, rather than only asking the user to manually type out a full response.
The key idea is to turn many clarification moments into “multiple-choice” interactions instead of purely open-ended subjective questions.
This would have several benefits:
More convenient interaction
Users could quickly choose from suggested options instead of writing long manual replies.
Better guidance and more possibilities
By showing several possible directions, Codex can help users discover options they may not have considered themselves.
Preserve full user control
Users should still be able to reject all suggested options and respond with custom text when needed.
In short, I think Codex would feel more efficient and collaborative if it could surface structured, interactive choices during clarification steps, while still keeping the flexibility of free-form user input.
