Hi OpenAI team,

I’d like to report a frustrating behavior in the Codex app.

I have empirically noticed that when I create enough active chats/threads, older active chats silently disappear from the sidebar. They are not archived by me, and they do not appear as expected in the active chat list. However, when I archive some older chats, previously hidden active chats reappear.

This strongly suggests that the Codex app has an undocumented limit on the number of unarchived active chats shown at once. If that is intentional, it should be clearly documented and surfaced in the UI. If it is not intentional, it seems like a bug in the thread list or pagination/filtering behavior.

The current behavior is confusing because chats appear to vanish without warning. A user can reasonably think their work was lost, when in reality the app is silently hiding older active chats. At minimum, the app should show a notice such as “some active threads are hidden,” provide pagination or search across all active chats, or document the limit.

Please either remove this silent limitation or make it visible and predictable to users.
