Codex Desktop browser annotations: Ctrl+Enter queues comments, but the shortcut is undiscoverable

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened May 21, 2026 by Sapientropic Closed May 21, 2026

Summary

In Codex Desktop's in-app browser annotation mode, clicking the arrow / pressing Enter now sends the annotation immediately. This made it look like the old multi-comment batch workflow was removed.

After testing, I found that Ctrl+Enter on Windows queues/adds the annotation instead of sending it immediately. On macOS this appears to be Cmd+Enter.

Why this is confusing

Expected behavior

Please consider one or more of:

  • Show a tooltip for the annotation submit button:
  • Enter: Send
  • Ctrl+Enter: Add / queue annotation
  • Document the shortcut in the in-app browser docs.
  • Add a setting to choose the default annotation submit mode:
  • Add / queue annotations
  • Send immediately
  • Restore the previous multi-comment workflow as the default, or make the current mode visually explicit.

Environment

  • Codex Desktop
  • Windows
  • App version observed: 26.513.4821.0
