Regression on Windows: session popup/minimum window replaced by "Open in new window"

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.519.2081.0

What subscription do you have?

_No response_

What platform is your computer?

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (Version 2009, OS Build 19045)

What issue are you seeing?

In earlier Codex desktop versions, right-clicking a session provided a compact popup / minimum window style option for opening that session in a small separate window.

On my current Windows build, the session context menu only shows "Open in new window". The previous compact popup/minimum-window behavior appears to be missing.

This is not related to the Pet window feature. I am specifically referring to the older per-session popup/floating mini-window workflow opened from the session context menu.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open Codex Desktop on Windows.
  2. Go to the session list in the sidebar.
  3. Right-click any session.
  4. Observe the available menu items.

What is the expected behavior?

The previous compact popup / minimum window behavior should still be available for a session, or there should be an equivalent dedicated option for opening a session in a small floating window.

Additional information

Current environment:

  • Codex package: OpenAI.Codex_26.519.2081.0_x64__2p2nqsd0c76g0
  • Install channel: Microsoft Store
  • UI language: zh-CN
  • Time zone: China Standard Time

Actual behavior:

  • The menu only shows "Open in new window"
  • The old compact popup/minimum-window workflow is no longer exposed

This seems related to existing popup-window regressions, but I am filing this separately as a Windows-specific report:

  • #14467
  • #13924
  • #15745
