What issue are you seeing?

When repeatedly hitting e in vim composer mode, the cursor does not advance to the next word end—just stays on the same word end.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Enable Vim composer mode with /vim, or set it as the default:

  1. In the Codex TUI composer, enter text like:

``

  1. Enter Vim normal mode.
  2. Put the cursor on the final character of alpha.
  3. Press e repeatedly.

What is the expected behavior?

Like Vim/Neovim, pressing e from the end of alpha should move to the end of beta, then the end of gamma.

Repeated e should continue advancing to the next end-of-word.

Additional information

The current implementation appears to route normal-mode e through vim_word_end_cursor().

That function appears to compute end_of_next_word() from the current cursor position, then map the returned exclusive end back with prev_atomic_boundary(end).

When the cursor is already on the last character of the current word, end_of_next_word() can return the byte position just after that same word. Mapping that back with prev_atomic_boundary(end) returns the current cursor position, so repeated e becomes a no-op.

A Vim-specific end-word motion likely needs to detect when the cursor is already at prev_atomic_boundary(end_of_next_word()), advance past the current atomic boundary, and then search for the next word end.
