Codex desktop Review feature not working except for the Last Turn setting

All of unstaged, staged, commit and branch are stuck forever loading. Additionally, Commit dropdown is forever stuck at this:

The Refresh option is permanently disabled:

This makes Codex desktop useless for reviewing the agent's work on any other basis than turn by turn, crucially, it means I have to hop off Codex to do a final check of the Git index before I open a PR.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

It happens to me 100 % of the time. No special steps, happens on the happy path where it should work.
