Feature request
Please add a persistent place in the Codex App UI to show current usage information, instead of requiring users to open Settings specifically to check it.
Motivation
Usage is something users may want to monitor while working, especially during longer sessions. Having it only available under Settings makes it harder to keep an eye on consumption and can interrupt the workflow.
Possible placement
A compact usage indicator could live somewhere unobtrusive, for example:
- the app sidebar
- the status bar / footer area
- the account/profile menu
- a small expandable indicator near the model/session controls
Expected behavior
The UI should make usage visible at a glance, with optional expansion for more detail. This would help users understand current consumption without leaving their active work context.

Once activated, the
/statuspanel keeps displaying the context window at all times for new and existing threads, not just on demand.I activate it by typing
/statusand then selecting theStatus Toggle Context Usageoverlay popup.<img width="727" height="134" alt="Image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/7ddb4af2-b612-4880-9148-28d94c82b8f6" />
Once it's activated, it stays on all the time for the current and future threads:

Thanks, but I want to see my 5h limit and weekly limit.
I know you already noted this in your original post and that's why you made this feature request:
That's still available in the settings menu (Codex desktop app) as it was before.

i think the point here is to show the 5h limit on the bar not by clicking setting
i really miss this always displaying. the need to click in settings>remaining usage is really counterintuitive
@edoardaoo did you find some way to do it
So, there's no way to have a bar with current usage remaining permanently shown somewhere in the UI?
Sadly, I think that's correct. It's like if your car had no fuel gauge and forced you to dig through multiple menus to see how much gas you have left.

/status does show you usage remaining now, but Idk how to put it in the codex sidebar
