What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.519.41501

What subscription do you have?

Individual ChatGPT account; not an organization/team account. Exact plan name not shown here.

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

Computer use controls are unavailable in Codex App Settings even though this is an individual account and the user is located in Central Asia, not Europe.

In Settings > Computer use, both controls are disabled:

  • Any App: “Disabled by your organization or unavailable in your region”
  • Google Chrome: “Disabled by your organization or unavailable in your region”

This has persisted for more than a month and across every Codex App update since the feature became visible. The account is not managed by an organization, so the message appears incorrect or the eligibility/region detection is wrong.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Sign in to Codex App with the affected individual account.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Go to Computer use.
  4. Observe that both “Any App” and “Google Chrome” toggles are disabled with the same organization/region message.

Duplicate search performed before filing. Related issues exist for other regions or different tool availability behavior, but this report is for an individual account in Central Asia where both Computer Use and Chrome use are disabled.

What is the expected behavior?

Computer use and Chrome use should be available for eligible individual accounts in supported regions, or the app should show a precise explanation of why the account/region is ineligible. Since this account is not part of an organization and is not in Europe, the controls should not be disabled with this message.

Additional information

The attached screenshot in the user report shows the Computer use settings page with both toggles disabled and the message “Disabled by your organization or unavailable in your region.”

The IP addresses are blocked by Cloudflare. Use a mobile network to access Codex first. 100% work. Or restart your router.

Can confirm this in Vietnam. Computer Use on Windows started working after I connected through a mobile network once. After that, it continued working on my home Wi-Fi as well, even though it hadn't worked there before.

This happens in Ukraine (Kyiv) as well and I have to resort to VPN to re-engage features because Codex this brittle plugin reconciliation system on startup that pulls the rug under you if it doesn't like something. Same static IP may work on one day and not work on another. Go figure.🤷

For several days now, I no longer get EU-only features randomly uninstalled on startup. Nothing changed in my setup, so maybe the Codex team fixed something in recent updates. That's Kyiv, not Central Asia, but I’m curious if anyone else has had a better experience since I suspect a similar underlying issue, or maybe this is an isolated incident.
