- Open Codex vscode extension and verify that the "IDE context" is working fine
- Open Codex CLI insde a vscode terminal
- Run slash command

Code CLI cannot see which file and text I am editing/selecting in vscode to add to the context automatically.
Codex vscode extension "IDE context" is working fine.

This is not a duplicated issue. The other one was closed without any reason.
I'm very interested in upgrading to the Pro subscription, but Codex still has some major issues. For example, this bug and Issue #6465. I really hope OpenAI can address these problems soon and bring Codex closer to the level of Claude Code. Once that happens, I'll be ready to switch.

/idefeature requires that you're running the CLI on the same machine as your IDE. Is that the case, or are you running the CLI on a different (remote) machine?Or are they running in separate containers or otherwise isolated from each other?
It is on the same machine, no container, no isolated environment. I enable even YOLO mode. VSCode integrated terminal.
Codex extension is already active and used.
Codex VSCode extension, Claude Code CLI, Claude Code VSCode extension: all works fine.
@xuanswe, this must be something specific to your system. Perhaps you could clone the codex source locally and ask codex to help you debug it. If you find the root cause, let us know.
How could you conclude that? Did you try to reproduce it?
Yes, I'm unable to repro this, and we haven't received reports from other users about this problem.
