Codex Windows app stuck spinning; prompts not sending and Auto-review never activates

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.513.40821

What subscription do you have?

ChatGpt Go

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

I am using the Codex Windows desktop app. When I open the app, the chat UI loads, but any prompt I send does not go through. It keeps spinning/loading forever and no response is generated.

Also, the “Auto-review” option/button appears stuck in an activation/loading state. It keeps blinking and never becomes usable, so I cannot start any task.

There is no visible error message shown in the app.

I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app around 5 times over the past week, but the issue still remains.

My ChatGPT plan is ChatGPT Go. Codex works properly for me on the web/cloud version, but the Windows desktop app does not work at all.

Attached screenshot shows the stuck state.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Not sure if this is replicable

What is the expected behavior?

Widespread issue, sounds very related: http://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24260

No, in my scenario, it is not specific to any model or a reasoning level. Just when I start the application itself, the any prompt or messages aren't sent . And also the permission modes, I am not able to access it, just shows a loading like UI as I have attached in the issue

It matches a larger broad pattern of "I press enter and nothing happens" which there are now dozens of reports of over the past few days. You should leave it running on that stuck screen for a couple of hours, I have a feeling something will eventually happen after a very long delay.

This looks like a startup/session bootstrap failure rather than a single-model prompt problem. Because prompts never send and Auto-review never finishes activating even after reinstalls, I’d focus on the handshake that unlocks the composer and the first-run session state instead of treating the spinner as an isolated UI bug.

Thank you for noticing the actual problem, wud be helpful if this gets fixed quickly

I mean it's two different things if it literally never moves, and if it moves after a very long time. I have an issue where I see stalls that literally last hours, I just go to bed and then it's completed by morning, with nothing but dead air in between. I don't mean as a resolution or work around, simply a test for you.

I get your point, I did try that once and it didn't work, it ended up with no action, the spinning of send button had stopped but the loading of permission but was the same. And i can't afford to wait for hours for each prompt right?
