[Windows] App does nothing on launch - no process, no window, no event logged
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
latest — app does not launch, cannot access About dialog. Installed via Microsoft Store (latest version).
What subscription do you have?

What platform is your computer?
Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64
What issue are you seeing?
Clicking Codex in the Start Menu does absolutely nothing. No window appears, no splash screen, no taskbar entry. There is zero visual or process-level response of any kind.
Verified the following:
- No Codex or OpenAI process appears in Task Manager (foreground or background)
- No Codex or OpenAI folder exists in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\
- No Codex or OpenAI folder exists in %APPDATA% (Roaming)
- No Codex or OpenAI keys exist in the Registry
- Tried launching as Administrator: No change
- Tried Reset and Repair via Windows Advanced App Settings: No change
- Checked Event Viewer: No event logged when attempting to launch
- Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times: No change
The app installs successfully but produces no executable behaviour whatsoever on launch. This is not a background process issue - there is no process of any kind being spawned.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Install Codex from the Microsoft Store on Windows 11
- Click the Codex shortcut in the Start Menu
- Nothing happens
What is the expected behavior?
App opens and displays the UI or login screen.
Additional information
Bitdefender Total Security is installed but quarantine is empty — no Codex files were flagged or blocked. Antivirus is confirmed not the cause.
Other Microsoft Store apps on this machine work normally. This appears to be isolated to the Codex package.
