What issue are you seeing?
Microsoft store fails to install the Codex or ChatGPT apps.
Error code: 0X87E10BC6
This is a legitimate Windows 11 machine, located in and with the region set to United States.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open Microsoft Store
- Search for Codex (or ChatGPT)
- Attempt to install app
Button shows installing for a brief period, and then fails with "Something Went Wrong" and the above error code.
What is the expected behavior?

I am right now having the same/similar issue, but I am only trying to update the codex app from 26.527.31326
I already have it installed, and updates worked fine, just not the one its trying to update to from that version

Windows event:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007001F: 9PLM9XGG6VKS-OpenAI.Codex.So I guess not the same as mentioned in this issue (but I am updating, not installing new)
I also get different codes though
Earlier had
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073D02: 9PLM9XGG6VKS-OpenAI.Codex.(the app was closed, unless there is something stuck somewhere, I dont see any codex.exe when I close the app)
In the app when I click the update button, I guess that just does the same thing over ms store (I can see in ms store that it tries to update it and fail the same)
That just closes the app and then I reopen it and the update icon is still there, so it did not apply.
(I wish we had a proper app, outside of ms store)
It seems that my sandbox is now broken for some reason however (worked before I tried to update)

some updates worked fine after doing that)
As usual the vscode extension meanwhile works and updates flawlessly ( extension just works, app is so much trouble, this is the next one :D )
ok nevermind
In my case a restart os/pc helped, then it immediately updated after restart
Although when I closed the app, there was no codex.exe running, but something must have been stuck somewhere for some reason
Now the app shows version 56.527.60818
And sandbox works
