Environment:
- Windows 11
- Official OpenAI Codex Desktop
- Latest version from official source
Issue:
Codex Desktop became unusable after previously working.
Observed errors include:
1.
session XXXXX is archived
Run codex unarchive XXXXX to unarchive it first
2.
Unable to find Electron app
3.
Cannot find module ...
4.
Error submitting message
What I already tried:
- Reinstalled Windows
- Reinstalled Codex Desktop
- Deleted all Codex configuration directories
- Switched to a different OpenAI account
- Created a new Windows user account with an English username
- Removed old sessions and caches
Result:
The issue persists across accounts and clean installations.
Expected behavior:
Codex Desktop should launch normally and allow creation of new sessions.
Actual behavior:
The application either fails to launch or becomes stuck with archived session errorsCodex_Error_Screenshots.zip
