What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Codex package version: 26.527.7698.0 Codex About dialog version: 26.527.60818

What subscription do you have?

Plus

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

After a recent Codex update, Chrome integration stopped working completely.

The Codex Chrome extension fails with:

"Unable to find Electron app"
"Cannot find module ...\google-chrome"

In Codex, Computer Use reports that plugins are unavailable and Chrome no longer appears as an available browser.

As a result, Codex can no longer control Chrome or access Outlook sessions that previously worked.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Install Codex from the Microsoft Store (version 26.527.7698.0).
  2. Install or reconnect the official Codex Chrome extension.
  3. Open Google Chrome.
  4. Click the Codex extension icon or attempt to connect Chrome from Codex.
  5. Observe the error:

"Unable to find Electron app"
"Cannot find module ...\google-chrome"

Additional symptoms:

  • Computer Use shows "plugins unavailable".
  • Chrome does not appear in the list of available browsers.
  • Browser-based tasks such as Outlook access fail.

The issue appeared immediately after a recent Codex update. The same machine and configuration worked correctly before the update.

What is the expected behavior?

The Codex Chrome extension should successfully launch and connect to the installed Codex application.

Chrome should appear under Computer Use as an available browser, and Computer Use plugins should be available.

Browser-controlled tasks, including access to authenticated Outlook sessions through Chrome, should function normally as they did before the recent update.
