i thought the same, worked for four back and forth requests but started spitting these errors out again

No need to upload logs or provide /feedback. This is not a client-side issue.

Summary

My Codex suddenly started failing with 429 Too Many Requests for every request, even for a minimal prompt. This happened after Codex had been working normally about one hour earlier.

The error message is:

Account / Plan

• Account: ChatGPT account login, not API key mode
• Plan: ChatGPT Pro 5x
• Subscription page shows the plan is active and will renew normally
• Codex web usage page shows 100% remaining usage
• Extra credits balance shows 0, but the included usage still shows 100% remaining

Environment

• Codex client: Codex desktop app
• OS: Windows 11
• Codex app version: [uptodate]

What happened

About one hour before the issue occurred, Codex was working normally. After I came back later, every request started failing with 429.

This happens regardless of the prompt. Even a minimal prompt such as:

Just reply "ok". Do not read files or run commands.

still returns the same 429 error.

What I already tried

• Logged out and logged back into Codex
• Checked my ChatGPT subscription status
• Checked Codex web usage / analytics page
• Tried very small prompts with no file access or command execution

The issue persists.

Expected behavior

Codex should accept requests because my Codex usage page shows 100% remaining usage.

Actual behavior

Every request fails with:

Could this be related to a Codex service-side incident, rate-limit accounting bug, or entitlement/usage mapping issue for ChatGPT Pro users?

Please help check whether my account is incorrectly being rate-limited despite showing 100% remaining Codex usage.

Additional context:

I was previously on the temporary 10x Codex usage promotion for the $100 Pro plan, which ended on May 31, 2026. I understand that the standard allowance is now 5x.

However, my Codex web usage page still shows 100% remaining included usage, while every request returns 429. This makes me suspect this may be related to a post-promotion entitlement or rate-limit accounting issue, where the frontend usage page and backend rate limiter are out of sync.

I'm running into the same issue. The status page/panel does not show the rate limit and only displays Rate limit: Unavailable, although the app itself still works.
